Thousands of pupils demonstrated today in Budapest, in the framework of the Fridays for Future movement.
The young demonstrators gathered on Batthany square at noon and marched to the Kossuth square to protest in front of the parliament. They chanted “we want no Black Friday” and demanded people to consume less.
According to the main speaker of the event, 14 other Hungarian cities have also joined the movement and held events on Friday. According to Fridays for Future activist Levente Pribeli it’s fantastic that the new, opposition local government of Budapest has declared climate emergy in Budapest, but he stressed that the words should be followed by acts. He also demanded the government to handle the crisis and to declare climate emergency in the whole country.
Several opposition politicians joined the event.
