MEPs of Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party have also reelected Manfred Weber as the leader of the European People’s Party group in the European Parliament.
Fidesz MEP Balazs Hidveghi told daily Magyar Hirlap on Thursday that they voted for Weber the biggest national delegation automatically gets this role in the EPP group. He stressed that Fidesz still doesn’t support Weber to become the president of the European Commission because he’s incompetent for this role.
Hidveghi stressed that Hungary’s government would only support a candidate who opposes migration and wants to protect Europe’s security and Christian heritage.
