Hungary’s State Secretary for EU Relations Judit Varga attended a panel discussion at the Sziget Festival on Friday.
According to her Facebook page, Varga joined the EU Meeting Point discussion “Tavares busted, Sargentini underway,” where she shared her “experiences of the European Parliament and debated the current hottest topic of the Hungarian-EU politics: The Sargentini-report” with Peter Stepper, the Executive Director of the Corvinus Society for Foreign Affairs and Culture.
Varga wrote that “it is safe to say that contrary to the EU’s motto ’United in diversity’ the current liberal European politics forces uniformity and division by disregarding the Central-European answers to its challenges”.
“The member states with fresh ideas and effective solutions are constantly attacked by makeshift accusations and political campaigns, the latest of these being the Sargentini-report,”
she wrote, adding that “instead of alienation and separation, they should listen to and learn about these countries for the sake of a strong Europe”
