President Janos Ader has signed the seventh amendment of the constitution and the package of laws dubbed “Stop Soros” that penalise activities in support of illegal migration, the official gazette, Magyar Kozlony, reported on Thursday.
Ader made no comments about the new amendments.
The Stop Soros laws contain amendments to the penal code that sanction entities or organisations that “facilitate illegal migration” or help with the asylum application procedures of migrants arriving from safe countries.
The amendments to the constitution prohibit the resettlement of foreign nationals in Hungary, create an administrative high court and ban homeless people from living in public spaces.
The new laws will take effect on the first day of the month following their publication.
