Orban called Salvini

Italy’s new minister of interior Matteo Salvini said that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban rang him and “they will change the EU together”, Italian press and Politico reports.

Speaking at an event of his Lega party in Fiumicino on Monday, Salvini said that he had a “long and cordial” phone call with Viktor Orban, who wished him well. He said they discussed how they will change the rules of the European Union together.

Matteo Salvini and his party have been long time supporters of the Hungarian government. They have praised Orban’s migration policies several times and even supported his measures against George Soros, who is – according to the Lega – supporting NGO’s which are taking migrants to Europe. Salvini said earlier that Viktor Orban and Donald Trump are his role models.
