A correspondent of The Guardian, Shaun Walker tweeted on Sunday that his request for the Future of Europe conference has been rejected.
The conference, held on May 23-24, is organised by a public, pro-government foundation. The list of speakers includes – among others – British author Douglas Murray, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto and former Czech President Václav Klaus. Donald Trump’s former advisor, Steve Bannon speaks at a separate event on May 23, which is organised by the same foundation, at the same venue. Also on the invitation of the foundation, British blogger and author Milo Yiannopoulos will hold a lecture on Friday, at a different venue.
Walker tweeted a screenshot of email, which says that his request was denied for the conference (the lectures of Bannon and Yiannopoulos required separate requests). According to the journalist, the incident is unprecedented:
