Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban discussed preparations for next year’s European parliamentary elections with leaders of the European People’s Party (EPP) in Brussels on Wednesday, his press chief told MTI.
“Today’s meeting was about the preparations to be made for the European parliamentary elections to be held in a year’s time,” Bertalan Havasi said after Orban and Fidesz MEP Jozsef Szajer held talks with EPP leaders Joseph Daul and Manfred Weber.
“The situation is tough: over the past year the European Union lost the United Kingdom and Brussels failed to curb migration,” Havasi said. “The European People’s Party is in a delicate position because it is the EU’s leading force. Fidesz and Viktor Orban personally are ready to get involved in the EPP’s election campaign and support its current leadership,” he added.
