Justice Minister Laszlo Trocsanyi discussed migration policy and border control with Mohamed Aujjar, his Moroccan counterpart, over the weekend in Marrakesh, the minister told MTI on Tuesday.
Trocsanyi briefed Aujjar on Hungarian migration policy and said that Hungary views the issue as pertaining to national sovereignty. They agreed about the importance of border protection and of penalising illegal border crossing, he said. Both countries think that European countries should “combat migration” through financial support to African countries in need instead of “idealistic theories and words”, Trocsanyi said.
Aujjar praised the Visegrad Group’s decision to support the Africa Foundation with 35 million euros.
Trocsanyi participated at a conference on the independence of the judiciary in Marrakesh on Saturday and Sunday.
