MEPs of the ruling Fidesz party spoke to Hungarian daily Magyar Idok about the influence of George Soros in the European Union.
“EU institutions are heavily relying on negotiations with NGOs”, Gyorgy Schopflin said, adding that the public can’t know much about these discussions, and it’s also worrying that EU institutions are meeting primarily left-wing NGOs.
“George Soros’s Open Society European Policy Institute (OSEPI) and similar organisations are very active and have serious influence in the European Parliament and the Commission”, the European People’s Party’s vice-chair, Kinga Gal said, adding that when resolutions about Hungary are being prepared, these NGOs are bombarding MEPs with propaganda material.
“Their standpoint is openly biased and rarely reflect the reality. Their lobby work has recently strengthened,”
she said.
