Left-wing cooperation made official

The Hungarian Socialist Party’s (MSZP) congress on Saturday approved the cooperation of MSZP and the Dialogue (Parbeszed) party for the parliamentary elections in April. The two parties will have joint candidates, a joint list, and their prime ministerial candidate is Gergely Karacsony, the Dialogue’s chairman.

The congress of the socialists approved the candidacy of Gergely Karacsony, who is the Dialogue party’s chairman and the mayor of Budapest’s 14th district. They also approved the individual candidates and the joint list. The list is led by Karacsony, followed by MSZP chairman Gyula Molnar. One of the leaders of the Hungarian Liberal Party (Liberalisok), Anett Bosz gets the 15th place on the list, while neither the party’s chairman, veteran liberal politician Gabor Fodor nor their logo will be on the list.

Speaking to public news channel M1, Fidesz spokesman Janos Halasz reacted that Karacsony is the prime ministerial candidate of George Soros. He added that Karacsony’s team of advisers is full of people paid by the US financier.
