Austria and Hungary agree that asylum policy begins with border control, Bence Tuzson, the state secretary for government communication told public news channel M1 on Wednesday.
The day before Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban held talks with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache in Vienna. Tuzson stressed that the two countries will act together in Brussels. He said it’s important for the neighbouring countries to agree on the fundamental questions that shape Europe’s future, such as migration. Only joint action prevent on the long-term Hungary from changing in terms of security and culture, he added.
According to the state secretary the EU’s current migration policy is breaking the Schengen system.
