Szijjarto: No credible info about Hungarians injured in Kabul

There are no Hungarian citizens in Kabul who registered for consular protection, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto told Hungarian news agency MTI, considering the attack against the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul.

Szijjarto said that the ministry, the Counter Terrorism Center (TEK) and the Military National Security Service (KNSz) are following the events closely, the ministry’s consular service, the Hungarian embassy in Ankara (which is also accredited to Kabul) and the consulate in Islamabad have immediately contacted their partners in Europe and Afghanistan and the Hungarian military contingent in Kabul.

The minister said they’re receiving contradicting information about a possible Hungarian concern, but due to the situation in Afghanistan the information can’t be deemed credible. He stressed that if it turns out that there was a Hungarian national in the hotel who needs help, the consular service will immediately help.
