Bernadett Szel, co-leader of green opposition LMP and a member of parliament’s national security committee, should stay away from a planned meeting of the committee focusing on the “Soros Plan”, the Fidesz deputy head of the committee said on Monday, arguing that Szel and LMP served the interests of US financier George Soros. This can be against the rule of law, because as a member of the committee, Szel cannot be banned from its meetings. The LMP lawmaker wrote on her Facebook page that she can’t be banned from the committee, but if she is, they’ll use every possible legal opportunity.
LMP’s politicians “were lying up and down” all throughout last autumn’s “National Consultation” campaign and “supported the Soros Plan all along”, Szilard Nemeth told a press conference. And those who support the “Soros Plan” and make decisions in the interest of the “Soros empire” cannot be allowed to take part in a national security committee meeting on “thwarting the Soros Plan”, he said.
Nemeth said Szel used to work for a pro-migrant organisation funded by Soros, arguing that Szel had therefore “been on Soros’s payroll”. He accused Szel of trying to conceal this part of her work history, arguing that the LMP co-leader had left it out of her parliamentary CV.
He added that on a recent trip to Brussels, Szel had met EU justice commissioner Vera Jourova, who had praised Soros’s Open Society Foundations.
Asked how a member of the committee could be “banned” from attending one of its meetings, Nemeth said:
“No one is banned, but the LMP member cannot take part in the session that will focus on the Soros Plan because she represents something entirely different from Hungarian interests.”
Bernadett Szel reacted to Szilard Nemeth on Facebook, calling his accusations lies.
“My message to the gentlemen is: I know it hurts that in one of the parliament’s most important committees there’s a member who is actually working and asking questions, instead of letting you degrade national security into depraved propaganda. But I’m keeping my end up: I will attend the meetings and continue to work to prove every single time: you are lying,”
