Poland can always count on Hungary’s support when it comes to European Union action launched against the country, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said in a statement on Wednesday.
Poland’s incoming foreign minister, Jacek Czaputowicz, thanked Hungary for its support, adding that Poland backs all goals set by the Hungarian presidency of the Visegrad Group, the statement said. Hungary took over the rotating presidency of the group whose members also include Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia in July 2017.
Poland also intends to continue cooperating on EU enlargement in the Western Balkans, the statement cited Czaputowicz as saying.
The Polish and Hungarian governments remain close allies on all issues connected with the EU’s future, he said, citing migration and next EU financial cycle as examples.
