Hungarians have unanimously rejected the so-called “Soros plan” to relocate migrants in the European Union on the basis of a mandatory quota system, the government spokesman said on Wednesday, citing the fully processed results of the “National Consultation” survey.
A total of 2,356,811 questionnaires have been returned, including 2,178,320 submitted in printed form and an additional 178,491 online, Zoltan Kovacs told a press conference.
Referring to US billionaire George Soros, he said the number of responses to all seven questions of the survey which amounted to a rejection of the “Soros plan” exceeded 2.3 million.
The latest was the most successful national survey ever conducted by the government of Viktor Orban, he added.
The questionnaires were fully processed before the Jan. 31 legal deadline, he said, adding that information contained in the forms were handled according to data protection rules.
