The government contributed to the reconstruction of 5500 churches and community buildings in the Carpathian Basin, Miklos Soltesz, Minister of State for Church, Nationality and Civil Society Relations told Kossuth Radio on Tuesday.
In the recent years, the government forged an alliance with the churches too, during the last seven and half years great changes have happened in public service and charitable work, he said. The Christian democrat politician highlighted that the change has been felt across the border too, 5500 churches and community buildings have been reconstructed in the Carpathian Basin with the Hungarian government’s help.
Soltesz stressed the importance of the preparedness of charity organisations, mentioning that six charities and three external organisations have won state support of 4.5 billion forints to develop their infrastructure. He highlighted that the number of schools maintained by churches, social institutions and child protection institutions is constantly growing, and the role of the church is increasing.
