The Hungarian army will purchase two Airbus A319 aircraft for the army’s use, the defence minister announced on Wednesday.
Concerning the price, Istvan Simicsko told a press conference that the list price of a new A319 would vary between 70-80 million euros, whereas the army will purchase the two 8-9 year-old aircraft for less than half that price.
Chief of Staff Tibor Benko said the two multitask A319s will be primarily used for transporting troops. He said that the purchase price also covers the cost of training the pilots and technical staff, and adjustments at the Kecskemet air field for the aircraft’s operation.
