Hungary is today among the world’s safest countries, and its army and law enforcement forces can take credit for this, the defence minister told parliament’s defence and law enforcement committee on Wednesday.
Istvan Simicsko said in his annual briefing to the committee that the Hungarian army would become a major central European military force under the government’s Zrinyi 2026 comprehensive defence and army development programme.
There is no branch of the forces which will not be developed “sooner or later”, he said.
Regarding army personnel, he said fewer soldiers were now quitting service compared with past years.
The Hungarian armed forces offer soldiers a predictable career path in a profession viewed by the public with respect, he added.
