Hungary wants V4 trademark recognised

During Hungary’s presidency of the Visegrad Group, the Hungarian parliament aims to get the V4 recognised as a “trademark”, with its positive and constructive proposals represented in various European Union policies, house speaker Laszlo Kover said on Friday.

He told an informal meeting of V4 house speakers that regular consultations and stronger cooperation are needed in order to take united action in areas where the V4’s position can be promoted in internal as well as external EU relations.

He praised the fulfilled initiatives of the Polish presidency and said that in addition to joint parliamentary committee sessions, there will be two professional conferences held during the Hungarian presidency. The first one, on the future of the EU, will be held on February 23, 2018, and the second, with the involvement of participants from the science and the civil sectors, in May or June next year. Kover proposed that one of the main topics of these conferences would be European values and joint V4 action against the persecution of Christians.
