MEP blames Orban for the quota’s failure

According to Portuguese Socialist MEP Ana Gomes the EU hasn’t managed the migration crisis well, and countries like Hungary are to blame for the failure of the relocation system.

Speaking to Hungarian public news channel M1 Gomes admitted that the relocation system didn’t work well, but she thinks that Viktor Orban’s attitude also contributed to its failure. The MEP called Orban’s migration policy inhumane and anti-European, adding that Syrian refugees should have been welcomed with open arms.

Gomes criticised Italy’s code for NGOs working on the sea, and stressed that the way the EU helps African countries should fundamentally be changed, the money should go to organisations and not to “kleptocratic regimes”.

She said that the Visegrad Four’s decision to unite against the relocation quota was a huge blow to European solidarity.
