Ujhelyi: According to the Commission there’s no ‘Soros plan’

Hungarian Socialist MEP Istvan Ujhelyi asked the European Commission in a written question about the existence of the so-called Soros plan, about which the Hungarian government started a national consultation.

Ujhelyi received an answer from Frans Timmermans, first vice-president of the European Commission. According to Ujhelyi, Timmermans wrote him that the Commission has no knowledge about a ‘Soros plan”, but there are several programmes and European initiatives which aim to handle the refugee crisis. “Timmermans made it clear that the common asylum system should find a balance between responsibility and solidarity”, the Socialist politician said.
